If it wasn’t clear it should be now. Neptune is (“the”) god of this age. It’s symbolic influence is ubiquitous. From television and advertising, creativity or shock, self-help and psychology, religious to the metaphysical, drugs to delusion, film and photography, the real and the unreal. Neptune colors everything that we see. Add to the mix the sense of idealism and activism (for a cause), the search for perfection, mixed within a culture without absolutes, boundaries, or objective truth. The siren’s song is playing everywhere!

In our age, the sirens song suggests that we can be anything we want to become. If we could but dream it we can be it. And that dream is Neptune. Neptune surreptitiously lies in wait, with brushstrokes of creativity, colorful inspiration, vivid imagination, and out of this world visions and aspirations. And the risk is disappointment should we fall so short of our ideal’s. What if it doesn’t work out? No problem we can always hide within a bottle, smoke ourselves into a mind numbing state of oblivion, stimulate religious ecstasy with our favorite entertainment drug, or check out into some form of neuroses. And the world, in transient compassion, will not hold anyone accountable, because there really are no rules and it’s nobody’s fault, it was Neptune!

Finally the siren song of Neptune is vitally important vocationally because it colors almost every aspect of what we want in a vocation: our core sense of who we are, our emotional underpinnings, our minds, our relationship concerns, our energy application, our hopes and wishes, our push to extend the boundaries, our willingness to try different approaches, and even to alter our perspectives beyond our perspectives.
