We all need a little help sometimes – I know I do! Especially in this day and age when everything seems to be in a state of flux and change even bordering on the chaotic. But where do we go to get that help? Our choices are many and range from psychotherapy or religion or both, to an astute or empathic friend, or a close family member, and yes, we can look to astrology as well.
Astrology is probably the oldest of the “sciences” and the father to many others. Astrology is a flexible empirical system of thought about human nature. It can be used for self-help or as part of a toolset of a psychotherapist or practicing astrologer. Imagine – just for a moment – being able to understand the underlying behavior patterns and how they hinder or help you “get” where you want “to be getting”. That’s astrology! An encouraging nudge along our “heroes journey” or as Carl Jung phrased it “towards individuation”. Did I mention that Carl Jung studied astrology too?
“Astrology is assured of recognition from psychology, without further restrictions, because astrology represents the summation of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity.” —Carl Jung
But what type of astrology is best for you? For me?
As fascinating as the other branches of astrology are I find myself rooted in positive psychologically based astrological systems that focus on the here and now. And maybe with good reasons. I am the product of a difficult childhood who chose not to get stuck there. Somehow I embraced optimism, even though surrounded by despair, and could see a life full of possibilities. I fondly remember Mrs. Harris, my 7th grade English teacher, asking us to write a poem. Here’s a stanza that reflects my mindset at the time:
“Green grass with huge trees,
a blue sky and a cool breeze.
Blue mountains with speckles of dust,
I haven’t wandered
and yet I must!
And when I do,
I know I’ll see,
a new opportunity,
waiting for me.”
Ah yes, “wander”, “yet I must”, “new opportunity waiting for me …”. Do you see? It’s already there! But where is there? It’s within me and has been since birth! I only need to trust and see it, believe in it, and move towards it. Would it surprise you to learn that astrology became a faithful companion around the same time? And that it has been the closest of friends ever since. Maybe that’s why I feel like “I am the captain of my ship and the master of my fate”. Why I can both see and pursue opportunities. So what does that have to do with finding the “right” astrologer? Because I seem to attract those who also want to be “masters of their fate”?
My astrological approach, based upon years of intensive training and practice, leans towards a process of self-help and self-individuation. Finding our “inner-self” and the unique cyclic rhythm we’re tuned into. All mysteriously correlated with the cyclic movement of celestial bodies in our solar system. “As above so below, As within so without.” A dance between the “inner-self” and the “universe” that gave it birth. But often the “inner-self” needs a little coaxing to reveal itself. That’s where I try and help.
In consultations I tend to focus on discovering core themes, strengths, patterns and the unique cyclic rhythms within. However what the chart reveals (“suggests really”) can only be confirmed by the client. Isn’t the client the one who is living out this “reality” we call life? Not the chart! I am always mindful that “planets don’t make things happen – people do!”. The chart is just a very helpful map!
So where do you want to go on your map? Where are you now on your map? What’s else is possible in your life? When is the best time to go for it? Maybe I’m the “right” astrologer for you and you’re the “right” client for me. After all, somehow you found me. Might it be that “synchronicity” is whispering that it’s meant to be. Let’s meet in our shared space an let helpfulness begin.
I might be the right Astrologer for You!
